The Farm
Sarasota County Schools
A Landmark Agricultural Education Facility Built with Patriot Precision
The Farm, developed by Sarasota County Schools, is a one-of-a-kind, 40-acre agricultural education complex designed to serve students across the entire district. Located next to McIntosh Middle School, this innovative campus blends hands-on agriculture, career training, and real-world experience into a working farm environment—right in the heart of a growing urban area. Students don’t just learn about agriculture here—they live it. From raising livestock and growing crops to exploring food science and skilled trades, The Farm connects education to real-life applications in a way few facilities in the country can match.
At Patriot Pole Barns, we’re proud to have played a major role in bringing this vision to life. Our team was selected to design and construct five of the core structures that make this facility functional, durable, and built for long-term use. These aren’t just buildings—they’re the backbone of a program that will impact thousands of students for years to come.

Our Contribution to The Farm
Patriot Pole Barns built the following key structures:
-
5,376 sq ft Cattle Barn – Engineered to house and support student livestock projects with durability, ventilation, and ease of use in mind.
-
3,456 sq ft Livestock Barn – A multi-species facility built to accommodate swine, sheep, goats, and more, giving students hands-on experience with a variety of animals.
-
4,800 sq ft Covered Arena – A large-span pole barn structure used for training, showing, and events, mirroring real agricultural and fair environments.
-
2,400 sq ft Pasture Shade Structure – Designed to provide essential protection for livestock in open pasture areas, improving animal welfare and usability of the land.
-
Custom Pole Barn-Style Wraparound Porch & Deck – Attached to the classroom building, this feature creates a seamless indoor-outdoor learning environment, perfectly suited for agricultural education.

Built for Real-World Learning
What makes The Farm truly exceptional is how every structure supports real-world application. Students who may not have land or resources at home can raise livestock on-site, participate in FFA and 4-H programs, and gain experience that prepares them for careers in agriculture, construction, and beyond. The facility includes greenhouses, food science labs, and teaching kitchens—allowing students to experience the full farm-to-table process.
Our structures play a critical role in that experience. From the barns that house livestock to the arena where students train and showcase their work, every building was designed with purpose, longevity, and functionality in mind.

A Project We’re Proud Of
The Farm represents the future of agricultural education—and Patriot Pole Barns is proud to have helped build it. This project showcases not only the versatility of post-frame construction but also our ability to deliver large-scale, high-impact agricultural facilities that serve communities in meaningful ways.
From initial construction to final completion, our team was on-site bringing these structures to life. Since completion, these buildings have already proven their durability in real-world conditions—withstanding Hurricane Milton, a storm that reached Category 5 intensity over the Gulf before making direct landfall in Sarasota County at Siesta Key as a major Category 3 hurricane with winds around 120 mph.
The storm’s path brought the core of its impact directly through the Sarasota area, with residents even reporting the calm conditions of the eye passing overhead before the second half of the storm hit. Despite those conditions, our structures came through without damage—a real-world validation of the engineering, materials, and craftsmanship behind every Patriot Pole Barn.
The images below capture that journey—from groundwork and framing to finished buildings now in daily use by students across Sarasota County.
